On the Agenda
Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Dead Sea, the mountains of Moab and the colorful cliffs of the Judean Desert with added commentary from the guide about geology, geopolitics and history. We’ll also drive across the Great Rift Valley and through Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.
Hike up (not permitted in the summer) or take a cable car to the top of the mountain, to the remains of King Herod’s 2,055-year-old remarkable fortress. Once there, we will go through the ancient sites and see firsthand how people managed to live on top of the desolate mountain in the middle of the desert, all those years ago.
After lunch, we will visit one of the many Dead Sea beaches where you will be able to soak yourself in the healing properties of the Dead Sea mud and float in the buoyant waters of the Dead Sea, a newspaper in hand for a quintessential photo opportunity.
